What is the PTA?
All parents/guardians automatically become members of the Riverview Infant School PTA when their children join the school. We are very fortunate at the school to have a PTA that is and has been, for many years, such an integral part of the school community. Thousands of pounds have been raised, which have been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education and the facilities in the school.
The PTA is extremely conscious of the ethos and morals of the school and tries to respect this when organising and planning events. Not all of our events are run as fundraisers; for example, at Christmas we have an entertainer simply with the aim of giving the children a good time.
Our PTA committee, as required under the Charities rules, consists of a number of elected members: three Officer positions of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary and three Vice Officer positions of Vice Chair, Vice Treasurer and Vice Secretary. In addition seven other non-positioned committee members are needed to make a full committee of 13 (so you can always have a majority in a vote). Members of the PTA are not paid; they do everything on a voluntary basis for the benefit of every child in the school.
The committee meet on a regular basis, usually once or twice per half term and slightly more frequently leading up to large events like the two annual fairs. The minutes of every meeting are emailed out to all the committee members, so if you can’t make a meeting you will still be kept informed. If you are interested in joining the committee, please speak to one on the current members of the committee or email us.
