About Us

How we raise money

Like most PTAs, the majority of our funds are raised through the events that we run. Some of our most popular events are the summer and Christmas fairs and Breakfast with Santa. We also run a sponsored event and an Easter event.  At Christmas we work with the children and teachers to produce tea towels and Christmas cards using the children’s own artwork, which make excellent presents for friends and family.  Last year we ran a Mother’s Day sale and a Father’s Day sale event where the children could buy a small gift and have it wrapped for that special person in their life.  So you can see there is always something going on and it is truly rewarding to see the children having fun at the events or enjoying using a piece of new equipment that the PTA has donated.

Charity Matched Giving scheme

The current Committee have started to look into the Charity Matched Giving scheme. This is where companies or businesses pledge to donate an amount of money which relates to the amount that an employee fundraises for our PTA. If you think your employer has a matched giving scheme already in operation, or you would like to take on or assist in setting up a scheme for us, please talk to one of the PTA committee, or drop us an email.

How we spend the money we raise

Once money is raised from events the funds are banked straight away.  The decisions on how to spend the money are taken at the PTA committee meetings.

Mrs Caulfield, our Head Teacher, has a “wish list” of items that the school would like to purchase.  Often this will be resources to improve a particular area of the curriculum or school environment.  Over the years this has included the outside maple leaf stools to go with the story telling chair by the Community Room and the theatrical stage area in the year 2 playground. Inside has included increasing and updating IT equipment, subscription to a specific IT program called “Purple Mash” to assist with learning and development and visualisers for each class to work with the interactive whiteboards, that also came from the PTA.  The PTA funds are mainly for the “extras” that unfortunately cannot be provided by the school budget; items that make our children’s learning & social experiences so much more fulfilling and exciting.

The money we raise is usually spent fairly quickly.  That way, you can be sure that in supporting our school, your child/children will feel the benefit during their three years in the Infants, along with everybody else.  The PTA does have ongoing commitments every year, for example: funding the cost of the Christmas entertainer and presents from a certain VIP when he visits the children at Christmas; individual class donation for each class teacher for them to spend how they wish to enhance their teaching and the children’s enjoyment of learning;  funding the entertainer for the year 2’s leavers disco.

How to get involved

We’re always looking for an extra pair of hands to help us at events. Parents and grandparents can get involved in a variety of ways if they want to, even if they only have a small amount of time available. Send us an email if you think you’re able to spare an hour or two – or even better, drop in at one of our PTA meetings.
